Off to FNQ tomorrow

Tomorrow we're off to see Angela in far north Queensland, and I'm teachng the Whitsunday Quilters while I'm there.

Hope the weather's better than it is here…

Angela says she can see the whales from her verandah, so I can hardly wait.

Quilted Christmas? In July?

Kathryn has just made a  patchworked and quilted table centre, for a friend whose decor is in earthy reds and greens, using just scraps from her fabric stash (and a tiny bit of stripe from mine).

Cathryn\'s red and green table runner for her lucky friend
She designed it using the grid that we drew in Electric Quilt 6 for her mother's quilted table centre, and played around with shapes, auditioning fabrics and then cutting the patches. A real 'design-as-you-go' quilt.

Her nine year old, Sophie, was helping me to put up the patches as they were cut, into the spaces on the design wall. She had a lovely time, and has since helped her Mum to choose some feature fabric to go with some more of Mum's small stash, so Cathryn can make another runner for yet another lucky friend
