Beautiful dramatic quilt based on a fabulous floral print fabric
Catherine came to Tea Gardens workshops all last year, and yesterday for the first time this year.
She started her quilt with some richly coloured hydrangea fabric as the feature fabric and began with a Best of All block for the centre of what was to be a medallion quilt for her bed.
The fabric – used in the border and other areas of the quilt. Also the binding (striped) fabric :

Tea Gardens NSW 2006
Monthly class at Tea Gardens, NSW during 2006
Student makes her first quilt
using four patch blocks and bright patchwork fabrics.
Anne wanted to start a new quilt for her brand new great grandson. She started by choosing a number of block sized pieces of 'kid' quilt fabric in various colour combinations.
Next Anne eliminated the ones she disliked, and settled on a bright, stimulating colour scheme in limes, aquas, royal, burnt orange, yellow and white.

The large pieces were cut into large squares, one 6 inch one, and two biggish rectangles.
Then the white (with a tiny purple floral on it) all the colours in the scheme were cut into 3 inch squares, sewn into four patch blocks, and the lot arranged and re-arranged on the design wall until she was excited with the result.

In four hours or so, Anne (who is almost finished her first quilt ) was nearly finished the inside part of her great grandson's single bed quilt.
Well done Anne!
